About Ukousa Build

Ukousa Build is a construction company operating across Pretoria and greater Gauteng. It handles new home builds, renovations and additions, roofing, painting, tiling, plumbing and electrical work, shopfitting and interior fit-outs. Every project runs under a single contract with one project manager accountable for it, rather than a homeowner coordinating six separate trades and hoping they turn up in the right order.

Services

What Ukousa Build does, and what each of it actually involves.

Home renovations and additions

Kitchens, bathrooms, extensions and full-house renovations, managed end to end with a fixed programme and a fixed price.

New home builds

Ground-up residential construction, from foundation to handover, with NHBRC enrolment where required.

Roofing

New roofs, re-roofing, leak repairs, waterproofing and gutter work on tile, IBR and slate.

Tiling and flooring

Floor and wall tiling, screeding, laminate, vinyl and skirting.

How it works

Four steps, and you know what happens at each one before you commit to anything.

  1. Site visit and quoteWe come to the property, measure, and quote against a written scope. No figure is given over the phone for construction work.
  2. Contract and programmeA written contract with a schedule of works, a payment schedule tied to milestones, and a completion date.
  3. BuildVetted trades on site under a project manager who inspects the work, not just the invoice.
  4. Snag and handoverA joint snag list, everything closed out, and compliance certificates handed over with the keys.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to build a house in South Africa?

Standard residential construction generally runs between R10,000 and R18,000 per square metre depending on finishes, site conditions and location, with high-end builds going well above that. Renovations are harder to average because so much depends on what is behind the walls. We quote after a site visit against a written scope.

Do I need a CIDB-registered contractor?

CIDB registration is legally required for public-sector construction work. Private clients are not legally required to use a registered contractor, though many ask for it as a quality signal. We hold registration for public work and are happy to provide the grading on request.

How long does a home renovation take?

A bathroom typically runs two to three weeks, a kitchen three to five, and a full-house renovation two to four months. The programme is written into the contract with a completion date, and delays caused by us are our problem, not yours.

Do you charge for quotations?

No. Site visits and written quotations are free for residential and commercial work in Gauteng. Detailed architectural drawings and structural design are a separate paid service, because that is professional work rather than a sales exercise.
