Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to register a company in South Africa?

CIPC charges R125 to R175 for a private company registration plus R50 for a name reservation. Our all-inclusive fee is R690, covering the CIPC fees, name reservation, COR14.3 certificate, standard MOI, share certificates, SARS income tax number and B-BBEE affidavit, with no additional charges at the end. Bundled packages start at R1,790.

How long does CIPC company registration take?

Most registrations complete within 3 to 5 working days from the moment we receive your director IDs and name options. Delays usually happen when CIPC rejects a proposed name, which is why we submit up to four name options with every application.

What documents do I need to register a company?

A valid South African ID or passport for every director, a physical South African business address (CIPC does not accept PO boxes), contact details and email addresses for all directors, and up to four proposed company names in order of preference.

Do I need to file annual returns with CIPC?

Yes. Every registered South African company and close corporation must file an annual return with CIPC every year. Failing to file leads to penalties and eventually deregistration of the company. Our Essential retainer at R199 per month includes annual return filing and the CIPC fee itself.

Can a foreign national register a South African company?

Yes. Foreign nationals can register a South African Pty Ltd using a valid passport. The company must have a physical South African registered address, which we provide as part of the registered office address service included in the monthly retainers.

Can I register a company myself?

Yes, directly with CIPC. Most people who do it themselves get stuck on name rejections, the MOI, or the SARS registration that follows, and the fee difference is small compared to the time it costs. If you want to do it yourself we will tell you honestly when that is the sensible choice.
